Chapter 3 - Explanation Text (Part 1)

A. Definition of Explanation Text :

An explanation is a statement, fact, or situation that provides an explanation of how something happened. Or in short, explanation is the reason why something can happen.

B. Purpose of Explanation Text : 

The purpose is to tell the reader how something happened.  Thus, the reader can imagine and understand a text.

C. Characteristic of Explanation Text : 

 - Usually uses the Simple Present Tense

 - Using passive voice

 - Using noun phrases and active verbs

 - Using chronological connector

 - Using adverbial phrases
