Chapter 5 - Prosedure Text (Part 1)

A. Definition Of Prosedure Text :

Procedure Text is text whose contents relate to how to make, do, or operate something sequentially (in regular steps from start to finish).

B. Purpose Of Prosedure Text :

The purpose of procedure text is to explain how something is made, done or used through sequential steps (to show how something is made/used/done through a sequence of steps).

C. Structure Of Prosedure Text :

a.) Goal; It is containt the purpose of the text. 

(Ex: How to make spagheti)

b.) Material or Ingredient; It is containt of the materials that used in the process.

(Ex: the material to cook omelette are egg, onion, vegetable oil, etc)

c.) Step; It is containt of the steps to make something in the goal. 

(Ex: first, wash the tomatoes, onion, ...., second cut the onions becomes slice...) 

d.) Conclusion; Conclusion contains about the end result of what has been done in accordance with the steps that have been determined.

D. Language Feature Of Prosedure Text :

•• Using present tense

••Use command or imperative sentences

••Use declaration or declarative sentences

••Using connectives or connecting words (example: first, second, then, finally, etc.)

••Using adverbial phrases (words to describe time, place and attitude)

••Using action verbs (example: cook, make, give, etc.)

E. Types Of Prosedure Text :

a. )  How to make; As previously stated, the word make is usually used when someone makes or creates something.

b.) How to do; Do is usually used when someone performs an activity or task without having any results.

c.) How to use; Procedure text that describes how to operate/use something.
